Mindfulness is mindfulness of ALOHA. We use the breath to bring us in alignment with the ALOHA values.

Aloha can also be translated as present breath (alo = presence , ha = breath).

We can think of the breath as our anchor to the present moment and in this way we can say that everything that exists, exists in the present moment and we know this because we are anchored in the moment.

According to Auntie Pilahi Paki known as “The Keeper of the Secrets of Hawaii”,

ALOHA is comprised of five words:

Akahai (Kindness)

Lokahi (Harmony)

Olu’olu (Gentleness)

Ha’ha’a (Humility)

Ahonui(Patience)

Akahai, Lokahi, Olu’olu, Ha’ha’a, and Ahonui are ways you can practice what is called the ALOHA breath. The ALOHA breath means that when you breathe you are exhaling all negative thoughts, wishes, and energy, and inhaling the five positive words that make up ALOHA.
